Every once in a while, an individual needs a helping hand and our transgender rapid response mutual aid grants are designed to do just that – provide short-term and immediate assistance for transgender and gender nonbinary folk or the parents of trans kids in need who reside within our service area. Grants may be restricted to certain counties or available funding.

Applicants must identify as transgender person or be the parent of a transgender minor child to be considered. All other applications will not be considered.


Rapid Responce Crisis Grants For Transgender Individuals

Eastern PA Trans Equity Project’s one-time rapid response micro grants are designed to help people with the following needs:

  • Rent payments – If you are employed and have sustainable income and are living in a rental unit but are unable to pay your full rent this month, we may be able help. Maximum benefit is $1,500 although partial grants may also be approved. Payment will be made directly to your landlord. Application does not guarantee approval.
  • Security Deposits – If you are employed and have sustainable income and have found a rental unit but are unable to afford the security deposit (but can afford to pay monthly rent), we may be able to help. Maximum benefit is $1,500 although a partial grant may be provided. Payment will be made directly to your landlord. Application does not guarantee approval.

  • Medical Expenses – if you are temporarily unable to pay for your trans-affirming medications/healthcare we may be able to help.
    • We can provide you with a pharmacy gift card that will help to cover the cost of your HRT care. Applicants must have a current prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.
    • We can provide payment to a provider for trans-affirming care for up to $100. Payment is made directly to the provider.
    • Application does not guarantee approval.

  • Groceries – If you are hungry and you cannot afford food, we may be able to help.
    • We can provide you with grocery store gift cards to ensure that you or your transgender child are fed and healthy.
    • Application does not guarantee approval.

  • Transportation/Utilities – If you are in danger of having your electricity/gas service cut-off, cannot afford heating oil, if your vehicle is in need of repair or you need access to transportation so that you can get to work, visit the doctor, or take care of your children, we may be able to help. Maximum grant amount is $250 and payment is made directly to the vendor.

Grants are subject to maximum amounts to be determined by Eastern PA Trans Equity Project. Grants may be subject to limitations based on time or amount. Applicant must be a resident in the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project service area which includes: Adams, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne, Wyoming, and York County in Pennsylvania.  Eastern PA Trans Equity Project reserves the right to approve or decline any and all applications.  This service is provided on an as-is basis.
