Every once in a while, an individual needs a helping hand and our transgender rapid response crisis grants are designed to do just that – provide short-term and immediate assistance for trans folk or the parents of trans kids in need who reside within our service area.

Rapid Responce Crisis Grants For Transgender Individuals

Eastern PA Trans Equity Project’s one-time rapid response micro grants are designed to help people with the following needs:

  • Rent payments – If you are employed and in an apartment but are unable to pay your full rent this month, we can help. Maximum benefit is $1,500. Payment will be made directly to your landlord.
  • Security Deposits – If you are employed and have found an apartment but are unable to afford the security deposit (but can afford to pay monthly rent), we can help. Maximum benefit is $1,500. Payment will be made directly to your landlord.

  • Short-term housing – If you are homeless, we can help to get you shelter.
    • We will provide you with a hotel room for up to five days (up to $250 cost) while you seek permanent housing.

  • Medical Expenses – if you are unable to pay for your trans-affirming medications, we can help.
    • We can provide you with a pharmacy gift card that will help to cover the cost of your HRT care. Applicants must have a current prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

  • Groceries – If you are hungry and you cannot afford food, we can help. 
    • We can provide you with grocery store gift cards to ensure that you or your transgender child are fed and healthy.

  • Transportation – If you need access to transportation we can provide you with a bus pass so that you can get to work and see your doctor. We offer qualified applicants the ability to get a 30-day bus pass on the following regional transportation systems
    • Lehigh Valley –  LANTA
    • Montgomery County – Ride On
    • Monroe County – Pocono Pony
    • Luzerne County – LCTA
    • Lackawanna County – COLTS
    • Berks County – BARTA

Disclaimer: Subject to available funding. Applications are reviewed on a first-come-first served basis and are offered once per approved applicant. Grants are subject to maximum amounts to be determined by Eastern PA Trans Equity Project. Grants may be subject to limitations based on time or amount. Applicant must be a resident in the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project service area which includes: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Montgomery, Bucks, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, Carbon, and Schuylkill Counties.  Eastern PA Trans Equity Project reserves the right to approve or decline any and all applications.  This service is provided on an as-is basis.
