Every once in a while, an individual needs a helping hand and our transgender rapid response crisis grants are designed to do just that – provide short-term and immediate assistance for transgender and gender nonbinary folk or the parents of trans kids in need who reside within our service area. Applicants must reside in one of the following counties: Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery, Berks, Bucks, Monroe, Carbon, Schuylkill, Luzerne or Lackawanna.

Applicants must identify as transgender or be the parent of a transgender minor child.

Rapid Responce Crisis Grants For Transgender Individuals

Eastern PA Trans Equity Project’s one-time rapid response micro grants are designed to help people with the following needs:

  • Rent payments – If you are employed and in an apartment but are unable to pay your full rent this month, we can help. Maximum benefit is $1,500. Payment will be made directly to your landlord.
  • Security Deposits – If you are employed and have found an apartment but are unable to afford the security deposit (but can afford to pay monthly rent), we can help. Maximum benefit is $1,500. Payment will be made directly to your landlord.

  • Medical Expenses – if you are temporarily unable to pay for your trans-affirming medications, we can help.
    • We can provide you with a pharmacy gift card that will help to cover the cost of your HRT care. Applicants must have a current prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

  • Groceries – If you are hungry and you cannot afford food, we can help. 
    • We can provide you with grocery store gift cards to ensure that you or your transgender child are fed and healthy.

  • Transportation – If your vehicle is in need of repair or you need access to transportation so that you can get to work, visit the doctor, or take care of your children, we can help
    • We can pay for vehicle repairs up to $500 (payment is made directly to the mechanic)
    • We can provide you with a 30-day bus pass on the following regional transportation systems
      • Lehigh Valley –  LANTA
      • Montgomery County – Ride On
      • Monroe County – Pocono Pony
      • Luzerne County – LCTA
      • Lackawanna County – COLTS
      • Berks County – BARTA

Disclaimer: Subject to available funding. Applications are reviewed on a first-come-first served basis and are offered once per approved applicant. Grants are subject to maximum amounts to be determined by Eastern PA Trans Equity Project. Grants may be subject to limitations based on time or amount. Applicant must be a resident in the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project service area which includes: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Montgomery, Bucks, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, Carbon, and Schuylkill Counties.  Eastern PA Trans Equity Project reserves the right to approve or decline any and all applications.  This service is provided on an as-is basis.
